Vickie Gangness AP Coordinator, REM Minnesota
Grant Recipient, Off Broadway Musical Theatre

When Vickie Gangness’ niece began acting with the Off Broadway Musical Theatre (OBMT) in New Hope, Minnesota, Vickie—a licensed beautician—offered her assistance with her niece’s hair and makeup. Doing her niece’s hair and makeup turned into doing hair and makeup for the cast, and soon she was also assisting with sets, concessions and fundraising for the free outdoor theatre. Twelve years later, Vickie’s continuing commitment to the OBMT has made her a Community Champion.

OBMT was formed in 1978 to continue a tradition of outdoor theater in New Hope—and they have presented a major musical, with full costumes, orchestra, sets and lighting each summer since then. Since Vickie has been with OBMT, she has assisted them in the production of Cinderella, Bye, Bye, Birdie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and many others.

The Off Broadway Musical Theatre will receive a $500 grant from The Foundation in honor of Vickie’s volunteer spirit and hard work.
